There are lots of recipes for Golden Turmeric Milk, also known as Golden Milk, and this is the one I love best. To make this delicious milk, you first need to make turmeric paste. Turmeric paste is super easy to make and it keeps in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Once it's made, all you need to do is add it to milk and warm the combination up when you'd like a cup. Golden Turmeric Milk is great for helping to reduce inflammation and for detoxifying the liver. I regularly enjoy a cup of this spicy warm milk to reap its benefits.
Turmeric Paste:
Ingredients:
1 cup (filtered) water
1/2 cup ground turmeric powder
1/4 cup coconut oil
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp each fresh ground pepper and ginger (fresh grated or ground)
Directions:
In a pot gently mix all ingredients together and heat over medium heat until coconut oil is melted.
Pour into a glass airtight container and store in fridge for up to 14 days.
Golden Turmeric Milk:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk* (or other milk of your choice)
A heaping tsp turmeric paste
Honey or maple syrup to taste (I prefer maple syrup)
Directions:
Add milk and turmeric paste to a small pot and heat on medium heat until thoroughly heated.
Pour into a mug and just before serving add a bit of honey or maple syrup to sweeten the taste.
Enjoy!
NOTE: A word of caution when making this recipe, be careful with the turmeric powder as it stains.
* you can also mix 2 different milks together such as unsweetened almond milk with coconut milk or soy milk
