There's a zillion recipes for trail mix available and it's because it's so easy to make! You literally only need a few minutes to make a huge batch of this healthy snack and the best thing of all is ~ you get to add whatever you want! Not only is trail mix a super quick, easy to make, uber-healthy snack, it's also versatile. You have the freedom to change it up every time. How great is that?

Here's my favorite Healthy Homemade Trail Mix recipe.

 

 

Ingredients:

 

ALMONDS - about 1 cup, raw

Almonds boast many health benefits including being an excellent source of both vitamin E and magnesium. They're also loaded with antioxidants. To learn more about the benefits of this popular tree nut, click here.

WALNUTS - about a 1 cup

Walnuts are a fantastic way to get more healthy fats in your diet. They're a good source of the plant form of omega-3's and they help decrease inflammation, while also helping to support a healthy gut.

PISTACHIOS - about 1/2 cup, shelled

Pistachios are a super yummy nut that are high in vitamin B6, protein, fiber, and antioxidants. For more of the many health benefits, click here.

PUMPKIN SEEDS - about 1/2 cup

Pumpkin seeds are small, but are big on being healthy. They're rich in antioxidants, iron, zinc, magnesium and many other nutrients.  

MEDJOOL DATES - about 1/2 cup, pitted and chopped

Medjool dates offer a bit of sweet in your trail mix that comes from natural sugars. They're also high in fiber and many vitamins and minerals. To learn more, click here.

 

Directions:

 

Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix together.

Store in a glass container in the fridge and it's ready to eat when you want a snack.

 

Some other options for your Healthy Homemade Trail Mix could be: cashews, sunflower seeds, pine nuts, or dried coconut. Mix it up and try different ingredients to find the combo that you love best!

 

* You can use raisins, dried blueberries, or dried cranberries instead of dates. Each offer a delicious addition in trail mix.

NOTE ~ Dried fruits offer a good alternative to sugar because of their natural sweetness.
