For many change brings on feelings of fear and anxiety. These feelings can be so strong that often one will fiercely resist change, gripping on as tight as they can to keep their circumstances just as they are. When we resist change, we remain stagnant. When we are stagnant, we stunt our growth.

Just as a tree is constantly changing, growing and evolving, so too are we. It starts out a tiny seed, then freely moves through its different stages of growth and development. Continuously evolving from a small plant all the way to a large tree, with its roots strongly connected to the earth. A tree knows its place in nature and adapts to its changing environment around it as best it can. New branches will stretch out and new leaves will develop from year to year. As the old leaves have been released and fallen off, a new space is created for new ones to grow.

Rarely will a tree stay stagnant without new growth. Nature does not stay stagnant, it’s not meant to. And neither are we. We are meant to change. We are meant to adapt to our changing environment around us. Just like a tree, we are meant to stretch and grow. We are meant to evolve and release the old that no longer serves us, leaving a space for the new to replace it.

We flourish when we embrace change and allow ourselves to move freely with it.
