Although I love apples year-round, fall is when I particularly crave this delicious, crunchy fruit. With so many varieties of apples in season at this time of year, I decided to share a few of my favorite ways to snack on this healthy treat. With all the wonderful things you can do with apples, choosing only a few wasn't easy!
ALMOND BUTTER APPLE WHEELS
This is a snack I enjoy a few times a week. It's super easy to prepare and the almond butter adds protein and healthy fats.
1 Apple
Almond Butter
- Core the apple. Then use a knife to put the almond butter inside the apple where the core was until the space is full.
- Slice apple into 1/4-inch - 1/2-inch slices and enjoy!
Note: You can use any nut butter that you like, I prefer almond butter best for its taste and incredible health benefits.
APPLES AND CINNAMON
Fall literally isn't the same without eating apples OR cinnamon, and they go together so beautifully! Here's 2 super easy ways to enjoy a delicious apple topped with cinnamon.
APPLE CHIPS
1 Bag of Apples (any variety)
Cinnamon
- Preheat oven to 225 degrees F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Slice apples* on a mandolin slicer.
- Place apple slices on prepared baking sheets, then sprinkle cinnamon over each one. Adding as much or as little cinnamon as you like.
- Bake in oven for 90 min.
- Remove from oven and place the chips on wire racks to cool.
* you can either remove the core or leave the core in before slicing.
CINNAMON SPRINKLED APPLES
1 Apple
Cinnamon
- Cut the apple into wedges and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste.
- Voila! A delicious, healthy snack.
Note: Cinnamon boasts incredible health benefits, so I always want it in my diet no matter the time of year. It's a high source of antioxidants and did you know that cinnamon also helps to reduce sugar cravings and stabilize blood sugar? Oh and it's also a great breath freshener too!
