Cinnamon Baked Apples ~

Is there anything better than the smell (and taste) of baked apples, especially during the fall months? These Cinnamon Baked Apples are a favorite after dinner treat in our house. Made with only 5 natural ingredients, this recipe couldn't be easier to make. Not only that, this dish is also gluten-free, refined sugar-free, dairy-free, and oh so delicious!

Ingredients:

6 medium apples*, cored and thinly sliced or cut into chunks

4 Tbsp coconut oil, melted

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Core apples and slice on a mandolin slicer. If you don't have a mandolin slicer, slice very thin or cut them into small chunks. I like to keep the peels on, however you can peel the apples if you prefer.

If slicing your apples, cut them in half after they've been sliced.

Place prepared apples in a medium-sized bowl.

Mix the coconut oil and spices together, then pour over the apples.

Toss well to coat all the apples evenly with the mixture and transfer to a medium-sized baking dish.

Bake in the oven, for about 20-30 minutes or until the apples are soft, stirring once during baking time. Enjoy!

These Cinnamon Baked Apples are best served warm from the oven. However, leftovers can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

TIP: If you prefer this dish a bit sweeter, you can add 1-2 tsp of maple syrup to the melted coconut oil and spices OR after baking, drizzle with honey.

* You can use any apple that you like baking with for this recipe.
