Trusting Your Intuition ~

Intuition. We all have it. Those of us who use it have our own name for it.

It's your inner knowing. Your compass. The pull that you feel towards or away from something or someone. The feeling in your gut or the little voice that speaks to you from the back of your mind.

Your intuition has always been with you, though many have either learned to silence it or ignore it when they hear it. Many don't trust it. Yet it's here to serve you. Your intuition is here to help you, warn you against what isn't good for you, and guide you throughout life.

I've been trusting my intuition for well over 20 years now and one thing I've learned is that sometimes my intuition leads me to challenging situations. More often than not, it's the very reason I get forced out of my comfort zone. And it's in these moments that I experience the most rewarding and life changing journey's in my life.

Learning to trust my own inner compass has been one of The Best things I've ever done for myself.

Looking back I can see there are so many wonderful experiences I would have missed out on had I not moved forward with what I felt was the next right step. I also know that there are many terrible things I avoided experiencing because I listened to (and acted upon) the voice inside warning me against something.

Rarely when I decide to do something do I know how I'm going to make it work. This is one of the biggest reasons people don't trust their intuition. Not being able to logically understand the how can easily stop someone in their tracks from taking action on where they're feeling led to go. For more on learning to overcome the how, click here.

Another big reason why people won't follow through on their intuition is because they can't physically see what their feeling. Think about it. How many times have you "felt off" about something or not sure about someone, but continued to go about doing that thing or interacting with that person anyways? It happens all the time! Your body is telling you one thing, your actions are the opposite. This happens when you aren't trusting your inner guidance.

Your intuition will always lead you in the right direction. It doesn't lie to you, it has no reason to.

Struggling to find your own inner voice?

The easiest way to find this treasure that lives within you is to be still. Be quiet. Get away from all the noise and distractions in your life. Breathe deeply to help calm your mind and body. Meditate and journal.

Meditate - Wikipedia defines meditation as, "a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing their mind on a particular object, thought or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state."

This practice is a wonderful tool to use help bring calm to your mind and body while allowing yourself to be open to hearing or feeling that intuitive guidance within you. For meditation benefits and tips, click here.

Journal - Writing in a journal helps you rid the mind of chatter and get to the heart of the matter. This is a very effective way to help you to connect with your deepest self. This practice also helps you increase self-awareness and self-trust. For more on the benefits of journaling, click here

Remember, following your intuition doesn't always lead you to fields of roses and sunshine. Sometimes it will guide you on the most challenging experiences of your life. Pushing you way past what you know, trust, and feel secure about. This isn't a bad thing, it's a great thing! Through our biggest challenges come our biggest rewards.
